Irish Xmas standstill

This is the only day in the year when not only all shops in Ireland are closed, but there is no public transportation.
Airplanes are grounded. Buses canceled for the day. So are the trains. Pubs are closed, alcohol sale is prohibited anyway.

There is electricity, but I bet if there was an internet failure, all I could do after calling the provider would be record a message.
This extends to any weekend of the year actually.

haha, yeah, the irish pub is the only thing closed in my neighborhood. otherwise the shops are mostly chinese and korean, they don't close for anything.

its the same everywhere in the uk isnt it? well definitely scotland anyway - local scottish trains and busses dont run. not sure about national trains from edinburgh/glasgow to london though.
