So this is the second time Ive posted this, last time was about a month or so ago.
Ive been looking around and still havent found an affordable place to live and work.Does anyone know of places that are up for rent now in the downtown area of toronto. From roncessvalle to DVP and nothing past bloor!
Thats a huge area and Im hoping to move in asap.
My budget is 1425 a month for a 2 bedroom or at least 1000 sq foot area.Someone please help me!

Buts its really far from work.
and this one, but it needs alot of work from when I went to it.
- yuck. what does a place in highpark/bloor west rent for these days? could have sworn 1400 would do it.monNom

Harv,
To is expensive these days. Your budget is not great enough for the locations you want to live it — there are many places E of DVP, N of Bloor, or W of Roncy. Or places within your geographic range but outside your financial range....

Unfortunately I know. I think I can front a little more money.
Ive got a couple friends in a wicked place at young and wellesley. One is a 2000 sq f place for 1600 bucks. One of the best places ive seen. 15 foot floors.

THAT, sounds nice. Good location, great price.
You *may* be able to talk your landlord down if you're doing a lease.

Im on a waiting list right now for places in that building. I hope someone dies or something.
pylon you have a wicked spot, err what?
- pylon0
We bought our building a couple years ago, yeah.
- By building I of course mean small, house-sized building. We're not talking a sky-scraper here.
:)pylon - Hence the working-all-the-time...

Hahaha, I feel ya. Im only twenty, so god knows I will not be buying a thing anytime soon.
Ive been calling realestate people with listings for shitty office space and trying to convince them into letting me rent from them if I build everything. They are not having any of it.
Sucks actually, theres some nice places that could really be sweet.

Most of the old Live/Work studio spaces in Toronto have been bulldozed or turned into expensive condos by now. I just went to see one last week at Bloor and Landsdowne that was 2100sqf for 2000 a month. 3 bedrooms with a full working darkroom built into the back. Sweet deal.
I didn't take it but the next person that saw it probably did. Try searching on Viewit.ca or Viewitbiz.ca for 512 Lansowne Ave. Maybe they have others available. My old space was at John and Adelaide (SE corner) Stop by and see if they are still renting out studios.
Good Luck.

ahhh the live work thing
you have to make enough in your work
to have a "work live place"maybe just a flat to start with and work up from that

hit up Riverdale

Or you could just buy here in Liberty Village
http://www.libertymarketlofts.ca…The site sucks but the building & location are sweet

It's going to make it harder because you are so young. If there's a lot of interest in an available space, the landlord is more likely to give it to someone who is older / more established. In the landlords eye's 20 years old = lots of parties.
- or lots of fappingimnotadesigner
- oh "that" businessalicetheblue
- a little fap is good for system once and awhileimnotadesigner

I guess thats true. But I rarely have parties now. Dont like the clean up.
Its hard definatly.alicetheblue, work is alright for me now and I have a steady job. Most places out there are in a realitve price range. 2 bedroom in the Annex is around 1600-1900. So Im under market with my range but hopefully something comes up.
Thanks for all the help

I know this is going to sound crazy.... but if you have a car and don't mind commuting, there are some crazy deals in downtown Hamilton for soooo fuckin' cheap. Big ass studios for the same price as a basement bachelor in Toronto. Only if a huge space is more important than a good location.
Just saying.

Get some friends together and rent a work/work studio at 9 Davies.
Everyone else seems to do that.
- harv0
haha, 9 Davies seems to be all booked up. Dan Limm is in there and so is studio one. But ill check it out.
Ive actaully found some really really nice places that Im going to call tommorrow.
Thanks for the help- Half the photo folks in Toronto are in there too. It's a commercial photo commune.Tungsten

Good luck with your search man. Let me know if you find any good buildings, cause I'm still looking for a decent space too.
