if you'regoing to buy a Jameson (and can't afford a middleton) buy a 12 year old.
I drink it with soda water and it's like having a sex farm in your mouth

- ^ No disrespect or nothing,
but I never understood how people can go for something matured 12 years then simply obliterate and dilute that taste with soda, water or icePeter - ...obliterate and dilute that taste with soda, water or icePeter
- true dat, in the case of ice or tap water, mineral water gives it a bit of room tbh to savour all the flavorskingsteven
- chlorine + any whiskey gives a horrible bitter tastekingsteven

If you like Jameson you gotta try Powers Irish Whiskey. I have tried most major brands and for the money this is by far the best. It's about the same price as Jameson but WAY smoother. You could compare it to a high end scotch for ease of drinking.

- The Laphroaig quarter cask is great. Highland Park I don't like as much, but still good.p-mac
- That's funny: Highland Park is the worst neighborhood in Detroit. So, that makes it worst in hemisphere, at least.boobs

Aside from Scotch, my main drink for quite a few years now has been a Manhattan with Makers Mark. Out of curiosity I looked up different recipes today and saw the suggestion of Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey as an alternative to Makers.
Picked some up - and it's cheap at about $12 a bottle - and have to say it makes a better Manhattan than Makers. I picked up new vermouth and have been experimenting with different levels of sweet, dry, bitters and a bit of cherry juice.
If you're looking for cheap rye whiskey, check this stuff out -
Apparently there's a big argument amongst Manhattan drinkers about whether rye whiskey or bourbon is better. Just like the gin vs vodka martini argument I guess!
