dropdown to select the country, do you put United States at the top of the list or just alphabetical? Why or why not

If your from the US and your selling mostly in the US then putting it at the top makes sense, followed by the next main group of users/buyers

True, but I would think the UX or interface designer would decide, right? It's not a very important detail but it's one that I notice when I am filing out a form online, and it's funny to think about the thought that goes behind it.
