ow to Password Protect a Folder on the Mac:
* Open up the "Disk Utility" application
* File -> New -> Disk Image from Folder...
* choose a folder to protect
* choose "AES-128" encryption and press Save
* Enter your desired new password twice

I use the disk image method. there was a widget, abracadabra that turned a folder invisible. (http://www.apple.com/downloads...
But I once forgot of it and deleted a folder which had the invisible in it... so I stick with the encrypted image for now.

Just use Terminal, navigate to the directory where the folder is kept and enter:
chmod a-wrx name-of-folder
This will lock the folder from everyone, including you. To regain access, enter:
chmod a+wrx name-of-folder
Done!
