Anyone have suggestions for a well built easy to manage intranet system that we'd be able to implement for a non-profit?

I knew this guy that was building the intranet at the local courthouse and for some inexplicable reason he thought it would be a good place to store a few hundred gigs of porno... needless to say some Judge stumbled upon it and he was fired... true story

does anyone know of an opensource project similar to backpack, for sharing files, calendars and contacts? preferably PHP + MySQL based. sourceforge isn't producing the goods and recommendations are always worth a look.
