Have you guys been giving to any nice charities for Christmas? During the rest of the year I give to animal charities and the WWF, but I do as much as I can to help spread the Christmas spirit during this season. Here's my list so far:
Bought three books (animals and science) for kids at our local Shriners hospital.
Sent five pounds of coffee to our troops in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.
Gave a twenty spot to Salvation Army at the grocery store last night (first time I ever did that and it really good).
Did some design work for the big yearly Christmas event benefitting our local Boys and Girls Club (this event raised $40,000 last year!).
My mother volunteers for the Church's soup kitchen every year, and if I have the time, I might do it with her this year.
One thing I love about Christmas is that it so often seems to bring out more goodwill and generosity of spirit than we see during the rest of the year. Actually, that's probably what I like the most.

I bought some art for $150 with 100% of the cost going to the Oregon Food Bank.

I am considering volunteering at the soup kitchen Christmas day in San francisco. otherwise, I donated my old mac, boxes of books, furniture and clothes to god's will last year. I don't usually give cash because I was duped once and now have no trust that it will be used as intended.

I "volunteered" to serve food at a soup kitchen one year. Hate to say that I hated every minute of it. I will gladly donate cash money from here on out.
- well bums do smell like bumsLlyod
- haha I did it when I was a Cub Scout and loved it back then.dog_opus
- what made it so miserable?_salisae_
- the bums?iCanHazQBN

Let's all post all the nice things we did for others this season, in an effort to look charitable.
Just give and help people out..don't gas yourself about it.

Yeah, 'cause it's so important to impress narcissistic twenty-something jackasses who believe that practiced nonchalance and trendy online affectation is some sort of impenetrable citadel of profundity.

Here at Toast Design we donate £3000 of design and print to suggested charities every Xmas rather than give out expensive and useless client gifts.
You can make a suggestion for the charity that should receive this years 'gift' (UK based of course) - So if you know of any worthy causes make a suggestion - www.socks-suck.co.uk

FUcking hell everyone if you want to be nice and give and be merry, do it whenever the fuck you like, not on some holiday of a religion that most people who celebrate don't even follow.
Crazy world!

my office did a bunch of stuff for World Beat. Each designer took a charity and designed a poster for it for office and build awareness. We covered, Toys For Tots and the NYC Coat Drive we also through in some propaganda against using plastic cups in the kitchen as well as using recycled paper notebooks for brainstorming and scetching. Here's my poster, for the coat drive obviously:

My girlfriend organized a food collection with some of our friends, we went around collecting, and then added our own contributions, we were near 200lbs of canned and boxed goods.
Then we dropped off like another 150lbs of old clothes to Goodwill. I hadn't gone through my stuff for like 10 years, so there was a TON to donate.
We are also looking to give to either OxFam or the One Laptop Per Child group. Still trying to decide.
