Been looking at (new/newish) hot hatches for the past few days. Seeing what was on the market before the Motoring industry hits their 4 month comfort buffer because no one is buying cars and they have to start think about major pricecuts to shift motors or start paying off staff.

Don't you have to be between 17 - 25 to drive these? Isn't that the law?

yeah - obviously wouldnt be going for the hideous stickerages and would be keep it looking an unassuming little thing.
the swift sport is a really nice shape car.
its VERY similar to the mini but looks much more masculine i think.
they have a great stance on the road.

The Renault. Understated, good looking. Best performer, most advanced chassis.
The Swift maybe, but its not really a hot hatch and you'd have to buy some much better tires and possibly uprate the suspension before it was really fun to drive.
The Abarth - I really got excited about these when they first came out but now I just think they look like Nissan Micras that have had a shopping trip to halfords. The servicing costs on it will be fucking heeeuge (Fiats always are, but Abarth doubles the costs) and at the end of the day its a bit of a lady car andan Abarth by badge only.

the green of the diesel 500 is nice with the crome
its only a 1.2litre though

I agree with you Horp.
You'd feel ok about leaving the Twingo parked anywhere as it is understated. The other two are a bit "look at me ya c*nt!!! - bet you couldnt scratch me with your keys you little tracksuit wearing tosser"

182 RenaultSport - the first ones (172) were loads of fun for such a small car. good for the city

Oh no, I'm now on Renault UK's site checking out the Renaultsport Twingo. Its a forgone conclusion that tonight will be spent arguing with my missus about ordering one.

Hoppa, any idea how often I am on this site and calling them up to talk about their stock list? About 3 times a week. Sadly though, the missus, well, she doesn't see the point.
- old, noisy, harsh ride. but nothing else comes close..hoppa74

For sheer fun/performance I would say the old Type R or 172 cup, for looks and performance any of the new Renault Sports - Megane, Clio etc... Interior is a bit shoddy tho!

The new fiestas got a really good review from clarkson on top gear at the weekend. thats what actually got me into looking at different hot hatches available at the moment.
One of my mates is in the process of beefing up his mini to 270bhp.
Looking like a beast.- S-Works are great little cars! But expensive for what they are. The Fiesta won't touch most hot hatches tho/jysta

I've never been a huge fan of the old Peugot 205 gti's btu do know they are beasts.
About 10+ years ago i used to have a mint mrk2 silver XR2.
id kill to have that back again.
one of my mates travelled down to london to get an F reg one recently. absolutely showroom condition car that is 20+ years old. astounding! plus you can fix anything and everything on it yourself hehe. Basic twin-carb engine :)
