Any of you freelancers use accounting software - if so what? Want something without all the bloat of payroll, staff, etc.

Usually I'd bump my software in threads like this ( http://www.getcashboard.com ), but we don't do accounts payable/expenses yet. Next year.
If you're looking for something that's just simple accounting and nothing more nothing less, check out LessAccounting

I use blinksale to do my invoices, then I have two trays - one called "invoices outstanding" and the other called "invoices received".
Once a year, I take the contents of the two trays and a folder full of dubious expenses claims to my accountant.

we got recommended FreeAgent by a few people who have been using it for a while.
The great thing is that they are a local company who have developed this online application.
Seemingly they will also add bespoke elements if your business needs something unique to your processes/business.
