Please suggest some 'happy' or 'light' instrumental music that I could put behind our on-hold message at work.

get the rights to an old radio comedy show. I was once on hold and they played The Goon Show at me and I was disappointed when someone finally picked up the phone.

Aye, wolfboy - a company I once worked for had ..er.. audio 'footage' (that's not the right word, but hey) from some Mo Ali boxing match. I can't stand boxing, but I was rapt the one time I phoned in and was put in hold.
- I could listen to that - with all the hiss ad crackle of the old 60s/70s recording.Wolfboy

But if it's incidental music you're after, the best i've heard was the soundtrack that New Order wrote and recorded for the Peter Saville retrospective at the design museum a few years ago. It's about 30 minutes long and was brilliant to walk round the gallery to.
I'd be happy to be on hold to that
