hey boobs when you make that really awesome poster do you think 80% of people who consume it give a shit about the design? at least you know the printer cares enough to match sure the colors are right.

I'd suggest going and visiting a few in the area. You'll see some great stuff, inspiring designs that they do care about.

omg I had an electrician round the other day, like omg his clothing was like sooo uncoordinated, he could have had a nice little uniform and a little black hat and it would have been soo cute.
Electricians just don't get it!

Ah, if only we lived in a world where people just gave legit suggestions instead of acting like whiney bitches. Get some self esteem = win in the real world.
Thanks jackryan and formed, will definitely check them out this week.

My point is not that printers should care about design. They should just have enough respect to actually use their clients.
You know, if you run a big ad agency, that has the Buick account, you drive a Buick, to show your respect to the people who butter your bread.
The work for printers comes largely from designers. They should have the decency to use our services from time to time.
And the gag about the electrician and his clothes is not at all analogous to what I'm talking about. The electrician doesn't make his money from clothing designers, largely. And most everyone understands that his work will get him dirty, and etc. So we don't expect electricians to dress like bankers.
But we should fucking expect these printers who make most of their dosh from designers to put out some decent brochures and collateral once in awhile, instead of the shitty matchbooks and dreck they usually have.
- printers make their money from printing, not printing uber fantastic subjectively great designs.doesnotexist

Most printers are small businesses, and most small businesses have shitty websites. You think the video store down the street has a nice website? I guarantee you the printer's site is like the Mona Lisa compared to that shit.

most printers are hardly overworked by jobs from well thought of designers, the meat and potatoes of their work is shit printing. their sites reflect the lowest common denominator of their client base.
the best way to find a great printer I've found is to talk to them in person and see & handle their samples and capabilities.

In my experience, it's almost as if "the better the printer, the worse their corporate image is" (including website design).
Honestly, I don't even know what some of my most preferred vendors websites look like. I guess I've never even thought about it.I don't really understand why in the world it would matter how funky-fresh a printers website is? If they can produce whatever you're looking for in the quality you're looking for, what else matters?
