Damn, €12570.00 for a 50 week course. Looks good, but I don't have that sort of money lying around.

For a place that advertises being cutting edge digital education, they're not following through with consistency:
A blogger blog, really? Images instead of HTML text on their site?

- yeah, its weird. But their students make some nice works. And man, its in SWEDEN!!! end of the line.benfal99

I hear you need to speak Swedish in order to go. True?

Kinda strange choice of non live text on their site
- ukit0
Hmm...for 400 bucks a month they will let you sit there and work on freelance stuff at their building...kinda funny :-)

So tired on reading about Hyper Island in general, period.

99% of HyperIsland's designers come into the program with crappy portfolios and exit the program with crappy portfolios. The only caveat is that they have two or three non-crappy projects that:
1. Were non-paid
2. They had complete freedom over
3. They had a huge team of co-students to do the grunt work on and respected Art Directors and Creative Directors to keep high-standards.The funny thing is although each hyperIsland class creates 1 or 2 "good" pieces of design each year, you then have the luxury of 23 other people taking credit for the project.
It's the most retarded Portfolio School concept ever. If I'm shelling out 5 figures I better get personal attention on individual projects. To wrap things up, none of the HyperIsland designers get noticeably better after going through the curriculum.
Someone is inevitably going to mention Jens Karlsson, without which HyperIsland wouldn't be shit. To that I say Jens was already well talented and well on his road to success before he went to HyperIsland.

stupid name.

as a graduated student, it's interesting to read all comments here, negative and positive.
fate_: i wish you had insight into the school before dishing out theories about hyper island. our programs include project management, development - and yes, design. to judge an entire education based on crews' collective work design-wise is, in my mind, ignorant.
students at hyper island learn about giving and receiving feedback. maybe you should apply.

^^ I can't believe you registered only to add nothing to the discussion
giving and receiving feedback,
I bet you a lapdancer can say the same thing about her line of work
