Just wondering if someone can give insight into how this style of illustration is created..

draw them in illustrator
and distress/texture it in photoshopthats how I do it

Draw it in illustrator.
Import the separate paths as SmartObjects (so you can change your vectors) into Photoshop and then colour and/or distress.
-or-
Draw all the paths in Photoshop and colour them in.
-or-
Draw the paths in Illustrator and overlay texture with clipping masks.
-or-
..... Any number of other ways? There's many ways to skin a cat.
