I am getting ready to post my new photography site live and could really use your input. The existing site is far too much and did not suit my needs (not to mention most people on here had negative comments about it). So! I took what you guys said and hopefully came up with a much better solution. Please let me know what your thoughts are as every piece of advice is taken constructively.
Thank you so much in advance.

Still not a fan of the blue but it is much better compared to your previous version.
- red would work much better.Jnr_Madison

- I use to have the red and it was good, but I wanted a change.mmaler
- ok, just my 2 cents.Jnr_Madison

Nice stuff.
your photos jiggle when they roll in, but not the wallpaper, I've seen this bug before, not sure how to fix tho...
music should go... i think its a © issue as well..
I would drop the outerglow on your logo too?
I prefer even more simplicity and would ditch the wallpaper look, but thats totally subjective.

I don't mind the blue myself, but your footer text is not even legible, including the audio on/off which I desperately wanted. I would increase that text size/contrast a little.

I think the wallpaper and blue are subjective - everyone has their own style and taste. I see the jitter and am trying hard to find a solution. It has to do with the tweener class and transition types. As far as the music, I have permission from the artist to use that track so I think I am going to leave it for now.
I agree with the glow - I think its overkill.
Thanks so much!
- wallpaper yes, subjective, blue I disagree.Jnr_Madison
- ok, just my 2 cents.Jnr_Madison

if you dropped the background pattern, the shots would gain prominence. if it´s about presenting your work, the shots should get all the user´s attention. now they kinda compete with the background. apart from that, all the bg-stuff (loading screens also) add nothing to your case, seems just redundant. I´d simplify the layout. good luck!

too much site, not enough photo.
photography sites should have as little as possible going on outside of the work itself. and music?? jesus fucking christ no.

kill the music. i have my own music i like to listen to. when i open a site with music i close it.

yep. That blue has got to change. It's too bright. It's not too pretty. That blue is the focus of the site.
I have a problem with the MM logo. but that's a whole different thing.
If you are doing this in flash, why not have the text in the menu as actual text from flash and not pixelated text from photoshop or something.
Also... The pixelated background of the site and the wallpaper background of the content area do not seem to be getting along too wel imo.
- VectorMasked0
oh, and the transition between pics is not too smooth. Makes me dizzy. it shakes too much.

the site will load a lot faster without the music...

I like it. Ignore the haters and do your own thing.

Ok - great feedback so far (minus skt who was just downright rude).
I dropped the background pattern (not wallpaper), as well as the music. After a closer look I agree that it takes away from the design. I am also going to entertain the idea of seeing what a nice red will look like.
Anything else?

suit yourself. keep your shitty music and over used, outdated and distracting flock wallpaper if you don't think my criticism was valid.
might want to throw in a few more drop shadows whilst you are at it. they always look good.
- mmaler0
Could you be anymore of a dick? Piss on a different thread. Your feedback is unwanted.
- skt0
yes, yes i could. but i won't, you seem a little over sensitive as it is.
sorry, i must have missed the part where it said only criticism you agreed with was allowed in here.
- Jnr_Madison0
Although it may seem harsh to you, skt is actually right on the money. That exact wallpaper pattern has very much been done to death unfortunately and no one wants a song you chose forced on them when they visit your site. Your box outline also fits into 1024x768 so you could show your work much larger.
- ..and the red M in the menu doesn't look right. Just keep it all one colour.Jnr_Madison
- and what time do you call this young man?skt
- too fucking early. Slept late, so am still up, just had me dinner.Jnr_Madison
- We can't all be rock stars living in LA, like some people. Pfft.Jnr_Madison
- Agreed - changed to all one color.mmaler
- mmaler0
Ok - let me take a step back because I agree with skt that I am being over sensitive. Reason being is that the last version of the site I had a friends company do and it bombed and I need to get it right this time.
I just uploaded a new version of the site. Its red. It has no music. No transitions - but I left the background - for good reason - the wallpaper is not an illustration. It is an actual photograph that I took locally of the pattern. I wanted all elements on the site to be pieces of my work.
Skt - my apologies - everyones feedback is welcome and I took your comments the wrong way.
- You don't want to hear this but I don't think the wallpaper is helping you. Your own pic or not.Jnr_Madison
- Bump this tomorrow when there are more people around and I'm 99% sure they will say the same thing.Jnr_Madison
- Anyway, I'll but out now, sounds like I am giving you a hard time.Jnr_Madison
- No - I appreciate the feedback!mmaler
- Point made. Change being made. Thanks for all your feedback.mmaler
- mmaler0
Any suggestions as to what to swap the wallpaper out with? I don't think that just black will work out. Hmm...
- Jnr_Madison0
One second and I'll show you what I think.
- Jnr_Madison0
- ,,and I would show two images at once in portrait mode.Jnr_Madison
- Let the larger images speak for themselves.Jnr_Madison
