your timing is terrible. Seattle weather will be damp and cold...Chicago will be...cold and windy.

Yeah, go to Barbados or something. Seriously, both places are much more fun in the summer.

I plan on going somewhere warm as well. But I have a lot of PTO at the moment that I need to clock in, and I'd like a secondary quick trip that doesn't require any major planning.

Depends on what you're used to... Chicago has a great nightlife with awesome Italian and deep dish pizza places, and great museums... but, it's also REALLY cold right now. If you've never been to Chicago at this time of year, well... be prepared with big coats and hats and gloves.

key west, miami, san diego, new mexico...no major planning required. :)

okay...a couple of years ago I spent Thanksgiving in Chicago and it was pretty special. Go to the bar in the Drake Hotel, have some whiskey and you'll be all set. :) Seattle cannot offer this sort of experience during this time of year.
- yeah I think Chicago just has more indoor stuff to offer... and the subway's greatSigDesign

Seattle has the highest suicide rate of any American city. If you are looking to commit suicide I would say move to Seattle.

Chicago should be better.
Seattle has the worst nightlife I've seen from a city/town with at least a population of 50,000 to the millions.
Downtown is dead by 8 or 9 pm. You could stand in a corner and not see a single person walk by for close to 5 mins.
- Truthfully speaking, though, you can stand in some crowded bars and still not see a single person, either.SimpleIrony

I live in Seattle and have visited Chicago a few times. I like Seattle because it has a small downtown you can walk all over. However I had a good time in Chicago as well.... Flip a coin.
Everyone talks about the Ace hotel... it's cool, but don't know if it deserves all the hype.
