Pellington to Direct Orphanage Remake
Source:Variety January 3, 2010
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/m…
New Line/Warner Bros. has hired Mark Pellington to direct the English-language remake of The Orphanage.
Guillermo del Toro and ContraFilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson will produce the redo of the Juan Antonio Bayona-directed Spanish film. Larry Fessenden and Del Toro wrote the script for the new version.
The original centers on Laura (Belén Rueda) who purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for disabled children. Once there, Laura discovers that the new environment awakens her son's imagination, but the ongoing fantasy games he plays with an invisible friend quickly turn into something more disturbing. Upon seeing her family increasingly threatened by the strange occurrences in the house, Laura looks to a group of parapsychologists for help in unraveling the mystery that has taken over the place.
Pellington's credits include Henry Poole Is Here, The Mothman Prophecies, Arlington Road and U2 3D.

NO WAY!!!!
The Karate kid cannot be black for two glaringly obvious reasons.
One : At some point they have to call the karate kid a round eye, this would be appauling if he was black as well because of the history of oppression these guys have behind them, and it's totally cool to call us whiteys round eyes we dinae give a fuck :D
Two : There can be only one motherfucking black martial artist and that my friends is Jim Kelly yo!!!!!

Firestarter Remake in the Works
Universal Pictures and Dino De Laurentiis Co. are looking to remake 1984 horror movie Firestarter, with Mark L. Smith on board to write the script.
Based on the 1980 Stephen King novel, the original starred Drew Barrymore and grossed $17 million at the domestic box office. That film was also produced by Universal and De Laurentiis' Co.
Variety says the studio is aiming to turn the reboot into a franchise property and that "the main character is to be reinvented with a little more edge."
De Laurentiis Co. chairman Martha De Laurentiis and president of production Lorenzo De Maio will produce through the De Laurentiis Co. along with Steven Schneider through his Room 101.
"We see this as a unique, character-driven thriller with a supernatural edge, based on a timeless concept and enhanced by recent visual effects advances," Martha De Laurentiis said.
"'Firestarter' has a great mythology and with Martha and Lorenzo's vision we believe the franchise can be extended in a new and exciting direction," said Debbie Liebling, Universal's president of production.
