What are your favorites, considering sites like http://www.attik.com or http://www.graphicthoughtfacilit… which sort of fails to really hit it technically.

think about your target audience
for example, something easily accessible so the viewer doesn't have to spend 10 mins working out an overly clever/hidden navigation system would work better for prospective employers that have to sift through hundreds of duff portfolios before getting to your splendid one.
but then again that approach might work better for other prospective employers/clients.
is your work strong enough to stand up on it's own, or do you feel you need to create a tasty new piece of work that doubles for a portfolio?
- Sounds like something someone who uses Indexibit would say.Jaline

- you mean you don't design/built to your audience? ok...zshed
- lvl_13 is nice example of well designed, usable etc and not *xhibitzshed

- Nah, I just think the design is somewhat important, depending on what kind of work you do.Jaline

I have been researching this subject (but for agencies) alot recently.
All sites seem to be either black or White
and
Have a grid of work samples or a left hand navI think that some successful ones are:
http://www.duffy.com/
http://www.bureau-va.com/

http://www.wash-design.co.uk/- wash are really nice
not too far from where i live eitherWeLoveNoise - Like that Five Foot Six one.Jaline
- Flash is over-rated on wash. But you did hit on a key concept of black and white. Its timeless - and easy to update

dare i say my own site? work up front. easy to navigate. clean, concise + smooth yet simple.
http://www.levelthirteen.comi don't know though, it's tough to say. it kind of A)depends on the target audience (obviously) B)show what you need to show effectively (whether that be in a simplistic/straight forward manner, or more of an intriguing/innovative way). the hardest line to come to is creating the perfect balance between all of them i guess.
i've always liked http://www.hi-res.nethttp://www.syrupnyc.com and http://www.group94.com and i would say that http://www.eighthourday.com and http://www.sevnthsin.com do a good job as well (i'm partial to them because we are all in minneapolis :). http://www.bbdo.com is also pretty slick.
- tis nice ur siteWeLoveNoise
- Hey, your site changed.Jaline
- unforunately very similar to a design i'm just doing for a friend. infact yes, urs is better :)WeLoveNoise
- :) thanks.
yeah jaline, just got it up in the last few weeks. took 4eva. still got to add a couple projects..lvl_13 - Your site is nice, however i think the light blub is unrelated. Would be great if shadowed your logo or found another creative element to use in that space that relates more to the work.ambermiro
- eightourday looks like a standard wordpress themeAnders
