So far a mac is a toy compared to a pc. but a good toy. the workflow is more enjoyable and it is more cushy. The interface is surprisingly simple. I got rid of XP/Max and moved to OSX/Lightwave. The hardest time I'm having is relearning lw. It runs 3d (open gl and other) very well. It's quicker than I expected.

thanks you Lloyd.
is there is any issue with external hardrive full of archives made on a PC (I'm a total mac noob sorry)?

5) how do you uninstall a program? I'm guessing you just drag it from the apps folder to the trash.
- yes, but.. user settings and stuff remain, better use external uninstallersrafalski
- lots of apps install an "uninstaller" with the app folder or there is an uninstall option in the original installer apphorton
- or you can use a 3rd party tool like "appzapper"horton
- *** i would def not recommend dragging to trash, leaves lots of stray files buried in your system foldershorton

Once you get used to Mac, you realize how much it simplifies your life. I used to have 1 pc laptop, 1 pc desktop and 1 mac laptop. Now I just use a MBP and a newly acquired MBA which is more for my gf and travel. I am impressed with the MBA so far. I need to test out a bit more to see how well it performs doing flash and photoshop.
- if you are impressed with the MBA, wait till you get a real mac :)Meeklo

the numbers on the mba seem pretty weak. having to hook up a separate drive to install anything seems like a pain in the ass.

I'm using the mail program that comes with it. will it suck in the filtered spam from gmail into the junk folder?
- Llyod0
the mail prog that comes with it is actually pretty good when working with gmail. gmail disposes of spam and sends the rest.

why not C4D?

because it was a pos when I was a 3d artist ('00), and I just can't get that out of my mind.

- that's a pain in the assLlyod
- you only have to type one letter...
Or click and hold on Back or Forward buttons for a listribit - or click history.

Switching to a Mac is pretty annoying at times. You have to find alternatives to some programs and the little things can be frustrating. There are also things that OS X / Finder doesn't do that bothers me (cut + paste, for example) and certain programs that I have to use in Windows. The good thing is that OS X looks great and there is more support for various applications all the time. I prefer it now, but I couldn't tell you exactly why. I'm not that picky when it comes to using a system.

So I was on a webpage and I knocked the mouse around and a illustrator style selection box opened up inside the browser window. everything outside the box was 50% grayed. What is this, how do I do it, and why?

I figured it out...dashboard. now how the hell do I get rid of it?

don't like it, system pref lets you customize it so you will, or if you don't care to learn it and take advantage of it, just remove the shortcuts.
