So i find myself needing a live in studio.
Hopefully still downtown but on the west end and two bedrooms. Anyone know of a place where this exists? please hook me up.

Queen/King & Parliament area...

Haha!
Man, most of those places disappeared years ago — as you've probably noticed. Have you tried calling Mervin? He's got some places on Brock just north of Queen and on, um, Noble and Brock (looking onto the LCBO). His number is on the buildings. He's kinda shady though.
There's another building on Florence and Brock that used to be awesome though I don't know anyone who still lives there. It's 77 Florence. James Dean is the super... I don't have his number anymore. We used to pay about 1000 for +/-1200 sq ft loft.
Dupont between Dundas/Roncesvalles/whatever-it... and Christie has a whole whack of live-work as well.
Sorry, don't have any numbers though...

renting, buying... what?

If you're looking to buy, just buy a shaky house and knock all the walls out. Lansdowne/Bloor area has got some great deals.

I was blown away at how much my old neighborhood [Riverview] has changed since leaving 3 years ago, but I still prefer the east and think it's more realistic to find a commercial & residential studio in that neck of the woods...
- or riverdale? can't remember actually..neue75_bold
- riverborough maybe?neue75_bold
- Riverdale.
And man it's getting pricey over there these days...pylon - to be a 5 min walk from Jilly's, I'd pay any price...neue75_bold

I would love to be able to buy a house and do it to it. But im young and dont wantt that dept yet

If you're looking for cheap then hit Dupont for sure. There's still some cheap rental lofts up there.
Or on Leslie and/or Coxwell at the Lakeshore, and also along Eastern Ave, but that's all east-end.

Darn man, most of that is east end and im living sorta east already.
What i really want, basicly what everyone wants is an old warehouse with hydro and heating that I can convert. ANYONE KNOW OF ANYWHERE. Ive got a month. Thanks for the ideas too eh!

Mervin Hollander owns a bunch of lofts — most are getting, or have been bull-dozed in the name of condo. What you seek is no longer in the west-end, amigo. http://www.aristocrat.ca/studior…
109 Niagara also always has space available, but it's right across from the abattoir and reeks half the year.

the aristocrat website seems ok. some of those places are alright but im not to sure bout them. They are a little to west. Fuck im picky. Maybe east is best for me. And then funny thing is that I work at 101 niagara. I didnt think i could afford those places. But we will see.
- pylon0
109 is super cheap. But it's also kinda sketchy and can, as you know, be smelly.
Live/works are inherently dingy and run down unless you put some real effort into them. If you want to be central it gets pretty costly. The nicer ones that already have a community of artists and designers are getting expensive — or are just never available anymore.

Damn, the units on that aristocrat website are CHEAP. I pay $875 for a little studio about 1/4 the size.

Ya im cool with building some shit for my place. But i need to have two bedrooms. I basicly want a large commen area. Some room for two computer desks and a couch and tv area. Fuck shit this is hard. Im going to walk around trying to find places to live.
- Is that all you want? Shit, you should have noooo problems finding a place....pylon

My buddy is just getting ready to move out of a loft apartment that his ex-roomate renovated the hell out of. Extended the loft part. Built two bedrooms. Its a beautiful place.
Landlord just raised the rent to $2000 though.
3 163 sterling rd. m6r 2b2 toronto ontario
He's getting back to me with the landlords phone number.
- Awesome sounding space.
That's right by Cadbury right?pylon - yeah really cool spot. They used to throw parties and do some music recording therescrap_paper
- I used to go to parties around there and down in Liberty village before it turned into Disneyland. Used to be on Atlantic.pylon

check out 1001 roselawn ave. i know a photographer that has a place there. it's a pretty cool live/work loft in an old building. It's probably expensive as fuck, and might be full (I don't know for sure) but it's worth a shot.
If you run into the photographer - I dare you to not stare at her breasts.
I dare you.

penthouses in most downtown buildings still have that I think. I'm looking for the same kinda situation, currently just in a condo on wellington but want 1 big space for photography studio / office desks (2-3 comps) / living area etc.
might be worth while to get a realtor on that.
- harv0
I want a cheaper place though and hiring a realtor will cost. Im hoping for a place like 1300 for a two bedroom or 1800 for a three bedroom.
But still with the space to hang a 12 foot seamless.
- pylon0
That's a pretty tall order these days, for what you want to pay...
That said, it's a big city — keep looking and you'll find something!
