What extra steps does Save for Web do vs Saving as a JPG?
Save for web creates an 8k file (default JPEG High, 60%)
Save As - JPG with setting of 1 (just for kics) saves it as 84k!
both 72dpi, both rgb. What gives? This has bugged me for years it seems.

safe for web, misses out a load of info for apps etc... and just has the info the browser needs to display it ok. Hence the smaller file size.

"save" carries with it color profile, printing info, EXIF metadata, and some other things.
Save for web essentially pares down everything to what is absolutely necessary to display the image

Save for web is what I use for putting something on my blog, on QBN, or for email comps. I hear tell that them web designin' fellas use it too.
