It was at Habiki in Tokyo. It was a really good restaurant. Like a 3 hour dinner. I almost preferred the little hole in the wall places that were just as good, but had better atmosphere to them.

If you get your hands on some, soak it overnight in milk. That gets rid of the gamey taste. You have to cook it right too, cause it's so lean.

I thin it depends on the venison and how you define the word venison. Where I live in Pennsylvania, the deer, etc. are very gamey tasting. It's due to the nutrient rich vegetation that they eat. Now, when i live in South West Africa, Namibia and ate along the Western Cape in South Africa, the meat had a very pleasant and less-gamey taste. partly due to the different kinds of animals, Spingbok, Oryx, Kudu, etc. but also due to the nutrient-deficient vegetation that they fed on for the most part.
