Bluejam posted this in the Public Choice
Thought id bring it into the Public Voice
http://www.e4.com/deadset/load of crap!
what are they playing at releasing this as a drama/horror?!?!?!
what a waste!!!This should have been aired as "Big Brother 11" (or whatever) and had people going into the house as normal with crowd outside etc - all live on Ch4. So all us public think its a real big brother.
THEN a few days into it, then it all starts to go pete tong!
It would have the potential to be AMAZING, and one of the greatest moments in tv/radio (equal to that of Orson Wells with the "war of the worlds" announcement).
Its the same with Peter Kays "pop factor" thing that was on last night. What a waste too. This wouldve had the potential to be a lot better if they hadnt hyped it up so much and had been made to make people think its the actual xfactor or whatever.
The clips ive seen from Dead Set do look good.
I just think the fact that theyve went to all the trouble to get davina and the house etc that they shoulda just run it as a normal BigB, but one that goes TERRIBLY wrong.
Wonder if they thought the press would spoil it all?

just read on the site there that its a killer virus outside and people trying to get IN!
shoulda just had it as a murderer IN the house, holding ransom
imo- Yes indeed, the virus thing is such an old idea. Should be The Texas Chain Saw Massacre + BBOhYeah
- imagine it was launched as a normal BB. youd be like :O watching it!23kon
- phonelines would be jammed with people phoning in to say OMFG someones been fuckin killed on live tv!!!23kon
- That would be fucking genius! Damn!!! Write to them and ask to change it!! love itOhYeah

The Peter Kay thing last night was excellent. We need more tv like this.
watching it, you can imagine the real shows ending up like this - 2 up, 2 down - fucking genius.
and yeah, they should have run this 'dead set' as real, nice idea. does look good and it's written by Charlie Brooker, so it should deliver.
- 23kon0
what do you mean?
the shows are like that TODAY!You don't get through to the bootcamp of XFactor unless you have a "story".
If your wife/husband/mother/father didnt tell you on their deathbed that you should go in for xfactor, or you were abused as a child and this is your chance to "shine" then you aint going to get anywhere in these programs cos theres nothing to tug at the publics heart strings or the producers of the program to play on.
I didnt really think the Peter Kay thing actually did enough for it to be excellent.
Some bits were funny, but he basically just showed XFactor (etc) AS IT IS at the moment without taking it funnier or ripping the piss more.- like that guy who couldnt afford his pro golf career so its his OMFG LAST CHANCEmodern

"you can imagine the real shows ending up like this"
was thinking more about the theatrics of the songs, costume changes, use of wire and kids dressed as Oliver and saving cats in trees. now that's entertainment.plus, bet cat deelay was pissed having to say "Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice" all the time. musta done her 'ead in.

23kon, I agree with you! I think all TV is more or less shit these days. It's funny to see how when I was growing up how TV shows have changed so much. Just look at MTV, once the best place for music now no music at all.
I like zombies a lot and when I saw the trailer for Dead set I did like it, as much as I hate BB, they should have made something else out of it.

Maybe actually RUNNING the normal BigBro series is worth too much to channel 4 (cos of all the phone in votes) that they wouldnt want to sacrifice it for a drama series. They wouldnt get the votes.
Mind you, it all couldve been turned around so people phoned in to vote for who got killed next.
Couldve been a bit "Running Man"
Bigtime wasted opportunity there seeing as the whole thing is "inhouse Channel4" - So permissions to intertwine a film/series/bigbrother would be there anyway - cos they own it all.
- OhYeah0
Should be called:
Peter Kay:
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre where Freddy and Jason hooked up to kill all the Zombies in the BB house and I still know what you did last summer!
- Bluejam0
anyone see it last night?
started off well, funny seeing Davina as a zombie.
- Na missed it, wanted to watch it. Happen to know when it's on next?OhYeah

Wasn't bad, no real jumps or anything new to the zombie horror genre or anything but watchable. Looking forward to see how it progresses over the week. Are they gonna do an eviction, lowest votes gets fucked out into the wilderness to be eaten by zombies?

I watched it beacuse I like charlie brooker's writing.
It was a good set up. I think it's on every night this weekend ending on friday (halloween). Brooker hates big brother but watches it and writes about it each year, so I think the best thing so far was the characters in the house, all the stereotypes were covered.
That jamie winstone annoys me though- aye and she ugly. You can tell her old man though.mistermik

I don't have/watch TV, but sometime, when i visit my mom house and we have full cable, all 300 channel bar none, i like to get stoned and just watch trash TV whilst my mommy serves me food and nibbles, ALL DAY LONG.
My favourite is MTV My Sweet 16 and the Diva channel.

I watched it last night and thought it was good. I'm going to give it a go tonight. Unsure how they are going to keep it interesting for 4 more days though.
I felt sorry for the zombie in the wheelchair who couldn't get any flesh to eat...

...to Khurram for duplicate, but valid, post in two threadsYour mommy sounds cool ;)

I thought it was suprisingly good considering.
I'm not a fan of BB, but I love horror/zombie films, and thought the first installment was pretty good...very similar to 28 days later though..
- 23kon0
Hrm, I didnt think this was any more exciting than doctor who or inhouse-made-sci-fi drama stuff.
I still stand by my original statement that this was a hugely missed opportunity for Channel 4 to go down in history as one of the biggest moments in TV ever by screening a BigBro11 then "killing" people off on live TV and having the public phoning in in their thousands!
- vespa0
just saw it, brilliant! totally realistic send up of telly production...
