  the shows are like that TODAY!

  You don't get through to the bootcamp of XFactor unless you have a "story".

  If your wife/husband/mother/father didnt tell you on their deathbed that you should go in for xfactor, or you were abused as a child and this is your chance to "shine" then you aint going to get anywhere in these programs cos theres nothing to tug at the publics heart strings or the producers of the program to play on.

  I didnt really think the Peter Kay thing actually did enough for it to be excellent.
  Some bits were funny, but he basically just showed XFactor (etc) AS IT IS at the moment without taking it funnier or ripping the piss more.
