yeah glitterati, that's the hardest part...finding enough money to buy the things you used to. but it's so worth it, innit?
- Definitely. Putting a smile on that little face makes up for it.Glitterati_Duane

As a new dad I can say that being cool is who you are. However you kinda lose some cool because the money you once spent on cool shit and cool clothes now gets spent on baby food, clothes, toys, diapers and formula.
- Save money - get yhe mother to breast feed - at least then you can buy a CD
cosmicEntity - i BF our baby and money was still tight. it's not that simple.sputnik2
- Yeah it really isn't. She does breast feed. The baby has to move to solids eventually though.Glitterati_Duane
- Plus the formula allows me to help out more.Glitterati_Duane

Once you're a Dad, what do you need to be cool for?
- hallelujah0
not worth the 30 seconds it would take to think about

it's short-sighted ignorance - there's truly nothing cooler than a great dad, and you don't have to change yourself to be one.

Yes, being a father ( 2nd little one on the way for me) changes you in some ways to make more sensible decisions, but it certainly does not make you "uncool" whatever that even means. There are so many amazing things that come along with being a parent, that I just don't think people without kids can possibly understand. They may think it's lame that you don't want to go out and get waisted or to the club or whatever but that's called being a good parent, which def doesn't make you not cool anymore. Anyways I think it's inevitable that some people will look at you this way, but you probably have changed your opinion about them too eh? (like thinking to yourself they have no clue :)
For me I have found myself to be a bit more safe when making risky decisions, but only because I don't want my kids growing up without a father.
