They need to make an Electric Bike Lock, that shocks the hell out of anyone who tries to touch it.
I watched this show where they would setup nice bait-bikes with locks on them and then video tape to see how long it took thief's to steal them. It was always shady white-trash meth-head looking dudes that would jack the bikes, and they could do it in just a minute or so. The camera would follow them and eventually bust them with the help of the police.
My other idea is buy a really crappy bike and rig it up so the front tire will fall off. Next set it up outside without a lock on it and watch it get jacked....then video tape the thief as he rides off and inevitably does the super man on concrete after the front tire falls off.

i lock my bike to the rack.
then i lock a doberman to the bike.
then i lock a bear trap to the doberman (which didn't work out so well the first time, the bike AND dog fell into the trap and the friggin pet shop asshole wouldn't accept my return for broken merchandise)i'd just stick to the lock and a mean dog. skip the bear trap.
