I have a dual 2GHZ G5 with 3GB RAM and Indesign CS3 is shit slow opening and closing files on it, does anybody else have this problem on their system.
It runs a dream on my mums Intel Macbook!!!

was it not released as working for both pre intel and intel too?
- it's made intel native which makes me wonder if it needs to convert (like a reverse rosetta) for pre-intelairey

I used to work on the same machine with 4GB RAM and CS3 screamed.

Some other performance roadblocks; turn off the visual page preview in the Pages palette. Hide the Info palette. The first has to draw a png file of each page and show it in the palette. The second has to count every word in the document and then display the number. Apparently there is a bug in the way InDesign does this.

Take 100's advice.
My wife uses ID CS3 on her 12" G4 PPC when not in the studio and it flies along. Opening files across a network will slow you down. Opening files with tonnes of images that it needs to redraw will slow you down. Set you image preview to Typical and listen to Mr100.

It works great on another Dual 2ghz G5 with 2.5gb of ram and thats with Tiger!!
Photoshop and illy are working fine on my machine, just wondering what the fuck up is with it saving and opening files that takes soo fecking long, sometimes waiting for up to 2mins to open up a 4page a5 file with not much transparency going on either!

anybody got CS4 on a G5 yet? any improvement?

Looks like a full delete hard disk and clean install of 10.5 did the job!! CS3 is now screaming along on what now feels like a new G5 again!!!
There's the new Macbook pro on hold for a while at least...

CS4 is not out yet but something tells me that it will be extremely slow on a G5. We'll have to wait till the middle of october to find out.

anybody having probs with cs3 on a g5 should definately do a full clean reinstall of the OS 10.5 mines running like a new comp now!! even with expose and spaces running with illy, indesign & photoshop open!!
