Im about to "Hand in my notice" as they say.
Ive been working here two years and am now ready to move on but this is my first proper job that Ive even had the opportunity to leave.
Is a simple email to my boss explaining when and why Im leaving an appropriate way to do it?
Or is there a more official way that I should know about?I just dont want to piss anyone off by being rude basically.
(a turd in his mailbox?)

I would suggest the best way is to have a quick word to let them know. They'll ask for it in writing which you can then do after. I think unless you're leaving on bad terms, it's always best to inform them in person rather than dropping an email.
