Personally I hate backpacks and would not want a laptop in one.
But, for the fashionable set, I highly suggest taking a look at http://www.kennethcole.com for nice messenger style bags for laptops.

I just bought a Jas M.B laptop bag. A small treat to myself but it's fucking cool. Lovely bag.
got a padded pocket for my laptop, and it doesnt look like a laptop bag

ogio hands down. rubber lining inside.. i have had the metro bag for 4 years no, 3 international travel with it carrying on average 12kg each time, plus daily use.. and its still going strong.

geez the market is over saturated with messenger style laptop bags

messengers are dead in the market at this time... most vendors will be getting chargebacks and the BTS and BTC markets didnt take well to messengers this season. Backpacks are making a bigger comeback this year and for 2009. especially for the BTS markets.
