Yeah, I love white, black, and red: the colors of typography.
Beyond that, complements are great for getting attention, analogous is ideal in supporting roles (often as background for white or black), and triads have all sorts of uses. With illustrations, I usually just intuition more than precise harmonies. I also love using gradients (mainly in illustrations), and then there's the matter of transparency/opacity.
