I'm going to publish a book sometime within the next two years. how much does it cost to self publish? anybody know anything about this?

You might be able to convince a local indie bookstore to sell your book. Getting an actual book deal with a big publishing company so you can have your book sold at Barnes and Noble is very difficult. But I hear if you write what sells, like trashy romance for instance, you can do quite well.

You pretty much pay less than $100 to get the ISBN and get it registered, or whatever. Lulu does it, Blurb does it, not really a big mystery at all.
So many people ask questions on QBN that would be better answered with a Google search. What gives?
