Hello all.
Just picked up a Duet today and getting it installed. Man, is it me or does simply listening to a song through headphones and itunes on this thing just sound excellent?

Duets are killer. They are the fully-lubricated ready-to-go smooth sweet bombpops of firewire audio interfaces.

Duets are to Firewire interfaces what Sophia Loren in the late 1950s was to feminine sexual attractiveness.
Wonderful.

Seems like it. When I told the guy at Guitar Center (an unfortunate point-of-purchase when you want something RIGHT NOW) I was using a Line 6 Tone Port interface for recording, he just kind of shook his head and said, "uh, you're making the right step up with the duet."
I like the toneport but it goes berserk with Logic 8, which I also picked up earlier this month.
I'm only hoping I can still use the VST mode of the Line 6 Gearbox software, because I fell in love with tons of the included tones. Also, several songs I have in progress used saved tones in Gearbox that, frankly, I have no idea how to duplicate otherwise - not with Logic, and certainly not with my limited guitar gear at home. All my pedals and live stuff is at the practice space.
- Duet is so so so ultra killer for Logic. I got one, and now I know happiness.boobs

Dude,
You gotta join my new club. The Computer Music Club.
Oh, and I think somebody makes a VST to AU plug-in converter so you can run that right up the fucking greasy ass of Logic, and get yer guitar running fuck hot right into Scupture.
And shit like that there.

Can anyone give any tips for recording a guitar straight into a duet and into logic?
I'm just really trying to get the hang of levels, input levels, volume, etc.
Should I keep my duet settings for instrument 1 and 2 and master volume the same generally and just adjust volumes in logic depending on how loud or quiet something is - different amps, that sort of thing?

you want to get a good level at your input, since the signal is still analog at this point. once your digital, you've got tons of headroom, but if you record a weak analog signal, your noise floor won't be much lower and you'll get more noise boosting gain later. but... be careful to not record too hot and clip the signal.

you also might get better results putting a DI box in between and going into the mic input

Resurrecting this old thread. Wanted to post something I've been working on in Logic over the past week. Finally got my recording setup just as I want/need it, rewired my effects pedal board, got my Alesis Micron hooked up. General recording setup uses:
Oxygen 49 MIDI controller
Korg NanoPad drum controller
Apogee Duet firewire interface
guitar effects
Alesis Micron, running through effects pedals
Fender Telecaster, Epiphone Casinohttp://mg33.net/music/081111-1.m…
Just something rough, hoping to get 5 - 6 songs written by the fall and really try and polish them up.
