Hello all - I'm translating a catalogue and decided to render "Passa-Montanhas" as "Balaclava", but I'm not sure it's the common word for it.
Is there a difference between UK/US on this one.
Thankles!

What? We use 'balaclava' for that head-hat with holes thing, but I'm not sure what you're trying to say?
- those exactly.********
- If I'd taken the extra 10 seconds to search for 'Passa-Montanhas' I'd have known what you're referring to. Soz.Nairn

Trust me - we don't throw words like "balaclava" around in this country. But we do love to ski and rob banks!

Can I use "ninja head-socks"?

Ok - thank you all. I guess most tourists/visitors here are from Britain so Balaclava it is.
It's a nice word, btw.

Just in case you're wondering:
passa-montanhas =
passar = to cross ~ "passa" = indefinite for "crossing"

i just looked up the battle of balaclava on wikipedia yesterday, what a strange coincidence..... the frase "charge of the heavy and light brigades" sounded awesome for some reason

I just thought of an idea for a film. A group of professional skiiers who also rob banks. The great thing is, they never have to remove their balaclavas. It'll be kind of like the "Point Break" of skiing.
