i am in such an 80's mood, German'ish... (this is Austria btw, some German in it, so it could have been in Ludwigsburg, Germany..)

what exactly is your problem with the netherlands, janne? to make sure you won´t encounter the same thing in deutschland?
- janne760
it is so dense here. so many people, so little space. costs of living are so high and still rising.. real estate pricing is insane. market is rather simple in my region and very unwilling to offer a little more for a little better work...
- janne760
to put it simple:
germany is bigger! i like...
- janne760
Now i really want to know, how is the rent in Ludwigsburg?
- ********0
I understand about the bigger thing. sure there are places in germany where you can buy cheap property or rent cheaply, but then these places are hard to make any money at (like the whole east + berlin area). and the whole country is just as bourgeois as the netherlands, exceptions only for the big cities. but anyway, we always can use more dutchmen here.

what is the average hourly rate for a freelance designer? i have a feeling it is better, even though it doesn't really say much. what i wonder most is: how do clients value work over there?
also: some of the works i see in moamoa's portfolio is hard to sell here, which is sad. a lot of my clients go for coarse image effects and gimmicks. gimmicks is very dutch but sometimes it tires you..
- gimmicks: I am thinking now on this: http://rotterdam.nl studio dumbr did that or?moamoa
- i do not think (=hope) Dumbar did that... at least not the website..janne76

what is the average hourly rate for a freelance designer?
- between 40-100€ depends on your quality and the agencies you are working with. like everywhere its hard so say, but many point are playing a rolewhat i wonder most is: how do clients value work over there?
- I think there is no gerneral answer for that, I am lucky with my clients.. very lucky.. I involve them into the complete design prozess, and they value that. (but as you know fashion&beauty clients are not the standard)a lot of my clients go for coarse image effects and gimmicks. gimmicks is very dutch but sometimes it tires you..
- no worry, the clients here want to have that, too, reflection buttons and 2.0,but I don´t do that.

for experienced designers working for decent corporate clients you can get €80 an hour (+/- €30) in the rhein-main area (= frankfurt, mainz, wiesbaden, etc.). but cost of living is rather expensive, in relation to other parts of germany.
regarding the client issue, you´ll have the same problems here. some get it, some don´t.
- didn´t know that frankfurt is that expensivemoamoa
- for livingmoamoa
- I think ffm is on the same level as munich... no?********
- I don´t think so... munich is is the most expensive city then stuttgart.moamoa
- I always have the feeling that frankfurt is cheap compared to other big cities, except: berlinmoamoa
- I tend to differ. the ranking seems to be munchen, stutti, rhein/main. prices here are a pain in the ass.********
- you should know it of course :)moamoa

-- hmm.. 65,00 per hour here, so not much different either..what i wonder most is: how do clients value work over there?
