I will though, wait till a new update before I move to 8, there is no need to update if the current version works fine, so until I really need it... I will stay on whatever version I have now. ;)

I’m with Meeklo.
I have a large number of songs on my machine at home and I have gone to the trouble of tagging most of them so creating all sorts of playlists is really easy. I run podcasts and TV shows from it and I have had no problems whatsoever.
I have enabled the “genius” feature and my first impressions are good, but I can’t wait to dig in.

it took me a while to figure it out, but you can store all your mp3 on an external drive, play them from there, and as long as your drive is plugged in, they will sync w your ipod, so now you don't need to have your music on your laptop (if you have a lot of music, you will be saving a lot of spaaaaaceeeaaah)

They changed where you can Convert audio files to mp3, aac, etc... took me a while to find that... annoying....

was very sneaky how they moved the store on/off options to parental controls... took me a while to figure out how to get rid of those arrows.

The Genius thing is annoying as fuck, I can't find where you disable it.
Also, I wish Apple would stop trying to sneak safari onto my machine with the updates.
Still, iTunes is better than the alternatives.

It's not only safari they sneak onto your machine. I found fucking MobileMe sat smirking in my control panel like a fucking smirky-thing.

mobile me and .Mac

only people with ponytails and hawaiian shirts would find that useful

contrary to others. I dig genius. If you have a large music library and have shit in there you haven't thought of or listened to for years, chances are genius will surprise you and throw in some goodies. Ya just gotta let it.

I've found genius to be surprisingly very good. Activating it on a My Bloody Valentine track gave me a wonderful shoegaze filled playlist - including some of the more well known, as well as the more obscure.
The new album view is quite nice as well.
I can't imagine using anything else to manage my music really.
- wait a second.. are you related to Doug?
