This is a great album for several reasons. The beats are really fresh and the overall tone is reminiscent of early to mid 90s gangsta rap before it got all about bling and bitches. Very N.W.A, Ice Cube, Lethal Injectionesque styles. Only refreshed and much more modern.
Also, The Game's style has matured quite a lot since his last album. Really clever verbal acrobatics. The lyrics remind me of a young Kool G Rap minus the lisp.
He takes a few jabs at 50 Cent which I enjoyed aswell. I'm not a fan of cheap disses, but The Game manages to keep it to a minimum and some what potent.
There are a few duets on there which seem really well orchastrated. Not just duets for the sake of who ever's hot right now.
Ice Cube, Raekwon, Bilal, Common, Lil Wayne etc.Rumour has it, XXL Mag are calling it possibly one of the top 5 hip-hop albums of all time.

aint heard it yet...game/50/g-unit comes off as a gimmick to me more than anything. i think he's trying way too hard to come off hard.
i seen dude perform in rosarito, mx...he pretended to chug an entire bottle of grey goose in one sitting after 1 song. come on now...
i liked his style on "westside story" but after that whole deal with 50, ehhhhhhh. shit was like WWF to me.
i'll check out the album though just for the production.

Now I'm going to listen to this bullshit tomorrow
I'll report back on this... and I doubt my opinion will coincide with yours.

For the record I was never a big fan. This album has changed my mind.
As for XXL's top 5 greatest albums; I'll make up my own mind on that.
I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.

first half of the album has a few legit songs. best 5 of all time.. very very tall order.
Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, The Chronic, Doggystyle, All Eyes on Me
Just 5 that come to mind. Do you think it beats any of these?
- I would have picked 5 completely different albums. But that's me.
Games album is certainly better than Doggystyle. Why would you put that in your top 5?Invalid - better than Doggystyle. Why would you put that in your top 5?Invalid
- because I listened to that whole album non-stop for months after it came out. Snoop was hungry and killed every song on there.Mellimelvin
- I'll debate when you post your list.Mellimelvin
- I can't think of anything now. I'll remember later when I'm on the toilet or something.Invalid
- we agree on thinking spots then!Mellimelvin

haha was about to reply, maybe 2 tracks
But honeslty, what little respect I had for him was gone as soon as he got that huge star on his face. wtf?
wit hlines like "got em wondering why John lennon left the beatles"
what the fack has that got to do with either him, the tack or the albumone bonus he seems to mention Dre only 50x in each track, rather than the 1000x in his older albums
- the *track*blackspade
- you forgot about his Lorenz Tate "O-Dog" mentions.Point5

"...beats are really fresh and the overall tone is reminiscent of early to mid 90s gangsta rap..."
Uhg. I am not opposed to good hip-hop/rap (roots, wu tang, del) but the game and fitty and all that other pop hip-hop/rap is fucking garbage. C'mon, wake the fuck up already. Those beats haven't been fresh since Stevie Wonder's Supernatural...

Game must be broke if he can only afford a single silver Dayton wheel and not even a car to attach it to.

The Game...
what are you 12?Don't buy this mtv shit man.. there is so much great music out there..

Ok I haven't listened to any "mtv shit", nor am I a fan of g-unit style hip-pop. I don't listen to radio hip-hop or any other form of commercial music for that matter.
i've said it on here before that i'm into The Roots, Common, Talib, Mos Def, all the okayplayer sounds. it's just that i did grow up on kool-g-rap, big daddy cane, dr. dre, NWA, rakim, ice cube. and even though i'm not an advocate of gangster rap persay, this album did remind me of those days when this style of hiphop was entertaining, that's it.

I gotta co-sign Invalid on this one. I hated on game because of his G-Unit affiliation but LAX is a good album. The Documentary was pretty good too actually.
- I don't co-sign the top 5 of all time though. That's just absurd.Glitterati_Duane

I could not care less about this kind of stuff. I don't have the interest to even give it a listen anymore, sorry GAME!
