I'm think I'm getting laid off at the end of the month. I needed to get my work up for potential employers to see. I've been slack and don't have a fully functional website to post. I made a blog w/ samples: www.kristoferporter.blogspot.com…...
Basically, I wanted to know your take: If you were hiring, does it matter so much? it's mostly print work anyway. ..
thoughts?
Also thoughts on the work would be helpful. should I put more?

You are off to winning start with that Web address, does not work, is your portfolio any better?

Some nice work in there. Why not use indexexhibit or Indxr instead of Blogger?
- utopian20
Please do not show your work in yet another blog, use Index Exhibit that can generate a clean website that will support your portfolio, but more important your brand.

just kind of picked blogspot for time..
you'd recommend those?
easy to use?

This guy http://bueroink.com/ink is using www.indexhibit.org

If you show a blog with your work you will either be ignored or laughed at by potential employers, it is like one step above a myspace page.

BTW _ Good luck:)

Agree about using something like indexhibit, blogspot is just plain unprofessional even if you're a print designer, you should really show your work in a nicer way and something like indexhibit is simple enough to get set up.
A blog is for blogging, you should avoid it for showing a folio unless you've taken the time to customise it appropriately. Even then, I think the least you should do is buy a domain name.

hmmm.. thanks.
yeah, I kind of knew that, I guess.
I just thought I'd put it out there.I'm going to start with indexhibit tonight.
thanks again guys.

Apparently "Indxr" is simple to install, use, build and customize...
- krisscott210
Imma take a look at both..
I'll get back to you soon. with the results. (and as Im not a web guy yet, for critique).
ie. my clock is friggin ticking.
thanks.

Good luck, your work is nice

you might want to divide each piece into an individual post. as well, include a title, short description, what type of work (ie: illustration) it is , year it was done, etc...

Yeah, this would matter to me (though I see you have already heeded good advice), beyond any cheese factor (the blogger bar up top), it puts your work in a poorly designed setting, and reflects as such on anything you put inside it, and in the mind of any employer you send this to, it would speak to cutting corners, or accepting mediocrity, not a good thing, especially if you really need a job.
Also not a big fan of the two prominent sizes you are using for your work, one is too big, and the other too small, I would adjust the scale of both a little bit to make it easier on the eye to see what is going on.
Good Luck!
