This will end badly. Heroic sports figures returning after their sell-by dates is never a good thing. See Jordan, Ali, et al.

It sounds like he is trying to spread the word more than win. Even though he is a racer, so of course he will want to win.

I think his romantic life is in a lull and he's just stirring the waters up a bit...
"Sure babe, I won the damn thing a bunch of times, but now I'm doing it for the children...."
- i bet he is still faster than a lot of the people on the tour. Plus he needs some new poontang.capn_ron

I wonder how many tens of millions he's going to get out of this
- he's riding for no pay and no bonuses.iCanHasQBN
- many 10's I would think, Lloyd.madirish

i personally, feel it is a mistake for him to return. means nothing, clearly, but it will not end pretty i feel.
re: "he's riding for no pay and no bonuses"- that is simply not true. while lance is reported to not have a salary slated for whomever he rides for (read: Astana), he will indeed be receiving in-kind along with various levels of equity for riding for multiple groups. he is not riding for charity, it is safe to say.

I can't see anything good coming from this.
On the one hand he comes back and loses he has tarnished his own incredible; on the other, if he comes back and wins it'll show cycling up to be in a weak state. No matter how good he has been a 37 year old should not be able to come back and beat the best of the riders in their prime.
