Who's that guy (more an illustrator, really, I guess) who paints 'slices of place' - like a wedge cut out of a country scene, with a deer and soil layers. Also does urban/street scenes going around a treadmill and such.
Does stuff at a set perspective all the time.

I like DeChirico. As was one of the originators he doesn't look too whacky and out there compared to the sexy gang abive, but without De Chirico it may not have been the same.
Also, populist and exploited commercially until it all looks like an ad campaign for a building society, but Rene Magritte was pretty fucking cool.

Mainly known as illustrators... Thom Ang, Phil Hale, Dave McKean & Kent Williams work has a tendency to fall into the surreal.
