panacea, when you say that the government shouldn't dominate everyone's life from cradle to grave, i agree.

but what i don't see is how you think that the american government is doing that at all. i mean usually things that would terrify those who claim they are for lesser government would be the staggering police response to the occupy movement, the wars that gw started, and spending more on military than the other top 10 spenders in the world combined.

what's more, is that while government unregulated and unchecked is a terrible beast, so is capitalism. these are all institutions and systems globbing for power and control - the veil of giving a shit about anyone is neither a democratic nor republican stance. it's just what people in control talk about.

so, as disappointed as i've been with obama, do you really think that the us government is telling people what to do too much? i think that they overstepped their boundaries long ago with the patriot act and the executive branch's oversight - but these were not policies drafted by our current president.

    • that's a loaded question or point. too many variables in the equation and yes they fucking want to at this rate.

I just don't understand, Panacea, why you'd try to insult someone by 'calling them' gay, if they're not. You're assuming - that for the insult to take - they wouldn't want to be called gay, and they'd only want to not be called gay if they thought there was something wrong or undesirable about it.
    Which there isn't.
Why you'd think that other people don't want to be thought of as gay can only indicate that you don't want to be thought of as gay, because you think there's something wrong with that.
There isn't, why would you think there's something wrong with being gay, Panacea ?
Seriously - level with me here - answer a straight question with a direct, unwavering response. I'll start you off:
"I think being gay is wrong, because......"
(Then you fill in the end bit after you've thought about it. Don't get political, don't try to examine my motives or assign broad characteristics and extrapolations about me asking the question, as an atheist, a liberal, a vegan, or a european...just man-up and do some straight-talking. You may highlight the amusing coincidence that I've used the term 'straight-talking' with regard to talking about your thoughts about being gay. You get that one free).
    Go...

    Limbaugh shows Santorum some love

Some kind words from Rush Limbaugh about Rick Santorum on the eve of the Florida primary had some wondering whether the conservative radio talker finally endorsed in the race.

“Everybody is guilty of some transgression somewhere against conservatism, except Santorum,” Limbaugh said Tuesday.

Shock Poll: 20% of Republicans Leaning to Obama

For critics of Barack Obama, 2012 has been portrayed as a do-or-die year for the country – an election that will determine whether America stays on the road to European-style socialism or veers right to reclaim its positions as the most vibrant economy in the world and the home of individual liberty.

But the 2012 election is looking more like a replay of 2008 than a do-over.

The latest WND/Wenzel Poll shows none of the current crop of Republican presidential candidates has solidified the base of the party, with one in five GOP voters leaning toward support of Obama in November.

    ObamaCare's Great Awakening
HHS tells religious believers to go to hell. The public notices.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB…

The political furor over President Obama's birth-control mandate continues to grow, even among those for whom contraception poses no moral qualms, and one needn't be a theologian to understand why. The country is being exposed to the raw political control that is the core of the Obama health-care plan, and Americans are seeing clearly for the first time how this will violate pluralism and liberty.

Clint Eastwood's Chrysler Super Bowl Ad: The Untold Obama Connection
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com…

Two members of the creative team that produced the two-minute minute spot for ad agency Wieden+Kennedy donated their personal time in 2008 to make pro-Obama art.

This year’s most discussed Super Bowl ad—a two-minute spot for Chrysler narrated by Clint Eastwood—continues to generate controversy in conservative political circles, where a host of questions have been raised about the automaker’s alleged motives for commissioning the advertisement.

In the days ahead, similar politically charged queries also are likely to be raised about the highly regarded Portland Oregon-based ad agency that produced the spot—Wieden+Kennedy, some of whose key creative professionals privately supported Barack Obama in the 2008 election.
