Judge Stephen Reinhardt's "impartiality might reasonably be questioned" because his wife, Ramona Ripston, is an outspoken opponent of Proposition 8 and has taken part in legal proceedings to overturn the ballot measure, lawyers for the measure's supporters told the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

It's nice to see the right dropping the "libertarian" facade and reverting back to the protectors of the royalty they always have been...

Libertarianism has always been better suited as a left-wing ideology anyway since it suggests respect for people's freedom and individual rights. Not exactly compatible with this gay-bashing, anti-immigrant, arm the government to the teeth kind of mentality, is it?

    Interesting

_________ was one of few ministers who took advantage of the administrative freedom allowed by the removal of the ________ from the gold standard—to maintain low interest rates, and high government deficits; the extensive, national public works, reducing the unemployment, were deficit-funded policy. The consequence of _______ administration was the extremely rapid unemployment-rate decline, the greatest of any country during the Great Depression.

Eventually, this Keynesian economic policy was supplemented by the increased production demands of warfare, inflating military budgets, and increasing government spending; the 100,000-soldier __________ expanded to millions.

Oh man. They were right! Politicians do get between you and you're doctor! And there was a "Death Panel"! Oh look...it's an all Republican death panel in heartless government who said "Sorry Pal, we're going to have to wheel you off that operating table, no liver transplant for you. Oh, you're going to die? Oh well..."

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/0…

"Francisco, a 32-year-old truck driver with four kids, was denied a liver transplant because the Arizona Legislature had yanked funds for it out of a state Medicaid program.

As Marc Lacey reported in The Times this week, Francisco had been prepped for surgery after a friend whose wife was dying asked that he be given her liver.

“It was good news when we heard the liver matched,” Flor said. “The doctor said: ‘Everything’s going well. We’re going to proceed with the surgery.’ ”

But Francisco, who has hepatitis C, had lost his health insurance when he had to stop working and had gotten coverage under the state Medicaid program. And Gov. Jan Brewer had signed a law eliminating Medicaid coverage of certain kinds of transplants as a cost-cutting measure. Flor said the next words she got from the doctor were: “You need to bring $200,000 as a deposit for the hospital.”

Francisco was summarily discharged. The Arizona state government, which is totally controlled by Republicans, got between him and his doctor."

So once again, Death Panels are totally cool, As Long As Your A Republican. If you're a Republican you're a Serious Person Who Makes The Tough Choices, But Life Ain't A Bowl Of Cherries Kid.

If you're a liberal? it just means your a godless communist hippie who hates America.

One is also a fucking hypocrite and the other is not.

Obama, GOP reach deal to extend tax cuts

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101…

"He explained his about-face by saying that the agreement called for a temporary, two-year extension of cuts at all income levels, not the permanent renewal that Republicans have long sought."

So tax policy politics which always favors Republicans, will now be re-visited in two years, just in time for elections.

    * face palm

    • ... and if jobs are created within these two years, it will provide more ammunition to extend cuts for the wealthy.IRNlun6
  • TheBlueOne0

“ Now, Republicans have a different view. They believe that we should also make permanent the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. I completely disagree with this... economists from all across the political spectrum agree that giving tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires does very little to actually grow our economy. So, sympathetic as I am to those who prefer a fight over compromise, as much as the political wisdom may dictate fighting over solving problems, it would be the wrong thing to do. As a result, we have arrived at a framework for a bipartisan agreement..."

And Obama agrees to give the Republicans everything they fucking want.

Fuck this guy. He's done. Toast. Fucking spineless. I gave a few hundred dollars to his campaign. First time I ever donated to a presidential campaign. It's the last.

Fuck you Obama. Next Republican who calls this guy a "lefty commie" gets my boot up his ass because Obama is, for all real purposes, a Republican.

Arizona Cuts Financing for Transplant Patients

PHOENIX — Even physicians with decades of experience telling patients that their lives are nearing an end are having difficulty discussing a potentially fatal condition that has arisen in Arizona: Death by budget cut.

Effective at the beginning of October, Arizona stopped financing certain transplant operations under the state’s version of Medicaid. Many doctors say the decision amounts to a death sentence for some low-income patients, who have little chance of survival without transplants and lack the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to pay for them.

    ^^
I live in Phoenix... ... for 7 years now I haven't been able to get health insurance because of a pre-existing condition - a bad aortic valve.

On Nov. 4th this past month while I was sitting working at my computer I suffered a rather nasty heart attack. I'm only 34.

While clutching my chest in the E.R. I explained to my physicians / caretakers that I had ZERO insurance and no money to pay - thus the 'delay' in me handling my heart condition.

So they got me settled into a room once they were able to stabilize me. Within 30 minutes a representative of the State of AZ was in my room (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)).

I followed their directions to the 't' as it were and gathered up my financial information, birth certificate etc (my family went on the hunt for some of this as I was held up in a hospital bed).

By the 15th of November I was approved for AHCCCS and on the 21st (not even two weeks ago) I was put on the table for open-heart surgery...

... the State more than came through for me.

Now I know for a fact that I'm not alone as there were others in the same ward as me suffering the same kind of pre-existing insurance denial bullshit - and they two were helped by the State.

I have a new valve and I'm already home recuperating - I have a few weeks of minor rehab to deal w/before the 'real' rehab begins... but long-story-short... everything worked out.

My point is that I had nowhere to turn to - and out of nowhere the State came to me and took care of me... I owe them MY LIFE and am forever grateful to all the folks who helped me.

The State is not exactly loaded w/money - but they are doing the best they can w/the funds they have and resources at their means.

I ASSURE YOU - nobody wants 'us' to die and there is a lot of love out there among those in the State making these difficult decisions. I'm incredibly lucky and blessed and wish nothing but the same for your family and those who are suffering / waiting on transplants / life-saving treatment... ... please understand that we're in a tight-spot as a State right now (and a country) and that there are literally thousands of people making a loving / valiant effort to help 'us' get the treatment 'we' need.

Please don't hate on the State as a whole - there are so many people in the Gov. sector of this bullshit that are working around the clock to help 'us'... ... I wish only the best for your loved-one, Buster... ... and I wish I could say more to ease your pain... I truly wish I had something more 'hopeful' to say...

I'm so very lucky right now - I only had about 5 months of life left in my heart as it was... if that. I don't know if God was watching over me or if I just got really lucky... ... but I do know this: The people working for the State really stepped up on my and other folks behalf this last month - they are trying as hard as they can / sacrificing their time and endurance... working to get 'us' all taken care of.

Hang in there, Buster - my love to your family... ... and whether or not you believe in God - I'm mentioning your loved-ones in my prayer tonight and hoping w/all my 'new' heart that they too have good fortune like me. :) There are so many good people w/the State really making an effort for so many of 'us' right now... hang in there, man and hold onto hope.

    • :)

also note, buster... there's a lot of outcry here in the state over the transplant issue - constant news reports...

... there's been a rise in private donors... and plenty of on-going protest to the way funds are being used... it's getting a lot of press and awareness is growing...

While talking to my doctors - some felt that State would have no choice but to step up and fix the way funds are allocated so as not to alienate those who need life-saving transplants (and of course for politicians to selfishly save face).

I hope it happens soon... I realize it's all talk... I wish I could say more to put you at ease - it's a shitty setup for sure, man.

NY Times readers comments running 150 to 1 against this tax cut extension deal. And I wouldn't call their readers die hard progressives. And at least 1/3 of them are saying No Obama in 2012.

I guess his staff doesn't read the Times. He would have known this was coming by now. Many readers said "this is the last straw." About time!

    Wish he would resign.
