The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. Though healthcare politics was at the center of the politics both of the Democratic primary and of the general election campaign, Obama has not suggested that he'd go for sweeping reform in his first hundred days. Instead, the thinking appears to be that he would sign an expansion of hte popular childrens' health program S-CHIP immediately, as a sort of a "down-payment" on broader reform.
But the timetable isn't entirely his, nor is the shape of final legislation, and Senate Finance Committee Chairman puts own an important marker on the issue today, the Journal reports: He's introducing a bill that resembles Obama's plan in important ways, but which sides with Clinton on the central question of the primary, mandates.
Obama campaigned against requiring individuals to seek care, making the argument that the main reason people who need care don't have it isn't choice, it's affordability. Clinton responded that the only solution to the problem of free-riding healthy young people is a mandate. And while Obama took a key architect of Clinton's plan, Neera Tanden, on staff, there hasn't really been a hint as to how to reconcile those two approaches.

Nope, it's just a prognostication. Am I prejudging him, probably, but that's not ugly. He got voted in due to a popularity vote. He wasn't from Bush's party, the media loved him and were complete biased, if you want to talk about bias, looks and eloquent speaking abilities.
