Awesome. Among the best rock bands ever. Even when they reach proportions of ridiculousness - like singing about Golem stealing away with hippie chicks. Especially then.

- They broke up just as I was reaching concert going age. Sucked.TheBlueOne

That video left out some examples
- "You Shook Me" (another Dixon cover)
- "Black Mountain Side" (Bert Jansch cover)
- How Many More Times (Howlin Wolf cover + Albert King cover)
- Moby Dick (reworked Bobby Parker material)
- Bring it on Home intro (Dixon cover)
- Gallows Pole (Lead Belly)
- Since I Been Lovin You (Yardbirds material)
- Over The Hills and Far Away (Yardbirds material)But faulting Zeppelin for "stealing" is wrong imo. They should have given credit where it was due but they shouldnt be bashed for not writing anything original. The way they reworked the material added so much to it and really made it their own. Not to mention most of their wholly original works (good times, bad times, communication breakdown, heartbreaker, black dog, to name a few) have become iconic rock songs.
Also something people tend to overlook or just arent aware of is that reworking other artist's material (even stealing) is common practice for blues musicians, its a large part of the art form. A lot of the popular versions of blues/rock songs we know and love ("Hound Dog") are covers of other people's material.
Also, Willie Dixon originally wrote a large majority of the most popular blues songs of all time, including I Just Want To Make Love to You, Evil, Bring it On Home, Gone Daddy Gone, You Shook Me, Back Door Man, etc. (the list of notable songs is amazing) Without Dixon, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters to name a couple wouldn't be as revered as they are today.
- Well, and ripping off the Jeff Beck Group as well might be in that list...TheBlueOne
- ..but fuck it, they took something and went somewhere else with it.TheBlueOne
- Right, listen to the original Dazed and Confused and tell me Zeppelin didnt add anything original.Rushmore
- Totally ripped, added to and still the best! I will probably listen to them my whole life.capn_ron

For anyone more interested in the newer blues musicians: Jack White and The Black Keys do the same things. On the blackpool dvd Jack White's guitar intro to Death Letter is quite similar to Zeppelin's version of In My Time of Dying (A Blind Willie Johnson song). The Black Keys take material from one of their major influences, RL Burnside, and rework it ("Busted").
- I have tons of Blind Willie Johnson on tape. He IMO is the best ever blues. Great voice.capn_ron
- Jack White also copied some licks off Rush's self-titled album.ismith
- Not trying to fault him, I think Jack White is very talented just making the point that its common practice in bluesRushmore
- jWhite is the best rock-lead guitar alive!67nj

I love Led Zeppelin and they are a close second to my favourite band The Who.
If I had one song to listen to forever and ever, it might possibly be Achilles Last Stand (because it fucking rocks hard and ... long ... damn it), or, Going To California (because I'm a sap).
- Fucking The Who man... one of the best bands ever. I've worn down my Who records.OnesandZeros
- I saw the Who in 2006 in Georgia... a lot of energy for their age.ismith
- to me the who died with keith moon. would still love to see pete and roger.OnesandZeros
- Achilles = Page's favorite.Rushmore

I had a brief conversation with a guy who played in Goober and The Peas with Jack White, said he was a good guy and just immensely talented. The kind of guy who could play any instrument you put in his hands. He said when Jack played The Big Three Killed My Baby at band practice for the first time he knew White was going to make it big.

It was disappointing after hearing their music for quite some time to find out the singer, was not, in fact, a cute chick.
