Besides loads of caffeine, I have jittery legs and bite my tongue. Any method is kick yourself into hyper mode?

ADHD and RLS?
... Just saying, I don't drink coffee, and also stay away from caffeine, haha.
I think I'm always looking forward to something to make whatever I'm doing somewhat tolerable.

Music worked for the first 2 weeks, it went downhill from there. I listen to podcasts which is great but I've been thru all the episodes.
"I think I'm always looking forward to something to make whatever I'm doing somewhat tolerable." -If it was a perfect world I could do that =)

Sometimes you need to stand up and take a little walk.

That's a great point, they say you should flex your legs at least once an hour. Helps keep your mind sharp.

Avoid Carbs for lunch...They used to send me into coma. Apples are also good for keeping you alert, apparently better than coffee, and nuts are great for cognitive thinking.
- Avoid carbs in general! (At least the bad ones. Go low glycemic.)dog_opus

I have the luxury of working from home, so I have my whole home entertainment system set up to prevent me from getting bored while I work. In fact, it's more challenging not to get distracted than it is to get bored. I used to have a little gym right downstairs, but they closed it, now I gotta walk half a mile to Gold's which is annoying.

keep myself awake? if i'm that tired i usually take it as a hint from my body and go to bed.
unless cramming a deadline.. coffee starts to have a negative effect at a certain point and i'll actually smoke a joint to get that extra mile.
if you're falling asleep because you're bored then that's a different problem.

Have you tried exercising on your off hours? I like to run for 30-40 minutes when I get home from work - Not only does it counteract the fact that i've been planted on my ass in front of a computer for the last 8 hours but also builds endurance and stamina for other things. All in all, exercise is good. If you can get past the short-term stress of exercising you'll really enjoy the long-term benefits.

Talk on the phone a lot:
Call clients and pester them with annoying questions. Call your cable company and complain. Call your Congressman and complain. Call me and tell me a good joke. Call your wife and tell her you're obsessed with Jaline. Call your therapist and tell her you're obsessed with me. Call your Bishop and tell him you're obsessed with all of us, in a carnal way. Call your Bishop by his first name, and see if he gets peeved. Call a guitar store and talk to the guy about pickups. Call the escort service and get a little pickup. Call your dealer and order me an eightball, and put it on your tab.
Report back when you're done with the list.
