I much prefer it to renting outside of having less mobility. I live in a market that was never really over-valued even during the boom.

I put 5% down fixed rate. I couldnt afford 10 or 20!!! I bought it by myself too. I enjoy it so much more I even like cleaning now!! I like watering my grass too and thinking about what all I can do with lawn decor etc. Fun overall.

i've owned mine for 6 years now - bought it at the height of the market. I don't regret it at all. however, if i were trying to sell it now, i'd be bummed out. bottom line - if you plan to stay for a while, it is a good idea.
we put down 10% and did a fixed 30yr loan se we didn't get screwed with an arm.
