HI hi hi. I am trying to resize a document with an action. It does not seem to pick it up while recording custom thingy.. any ideas?

i notice illustrator sometimes ignores actions or downright breaks. I just do it the old fashioned way.

you mean resize the page dimensions via document setup? i don't think that's a recordable action.
maybe try recording an action that'll create a new crop area to your specified page size, and save as pdf... ?

On a Mac? does Automator help?

I have never tried automator. I will test that out. I will also try the crop idea... THANK YOU!

draw a rectangle @ your new page size dimensions and placement, copy it to clipboard.
start recording.
paste in front. keep selected and menu> object/crop area. save and/ or save as pdf.
stop recording.
your AI document page will still be the old size, but the crop area will trim the pdf and any image exports.
or you could possibly open all 430 AI pages into one Acrobat document and crop the document page that way, but then your left with 1 multipage PDF.
