Apply for an entry-level job. Entry-level means no experience necessary.
If you got your BFA from CCS, you should be able to go through the Birmingham, Southfield, Auburn Hills, Rochester, and Farmington phone books and line up a dozen interviews for next week. Call places up, tell them you just finished your degree, and you'd like to come show your book and get advice about your career.

I don't think it's the degree as much as it is the Michigan economy, but to answer the question: BFA Graphic Design from College for Creative Studies, Detroit, MI(holler!)

what do you have a degree in that doesn't get your foot in the door to begin with?
Did you attend school for 4 years without stepping off campus? I get hit up for work going to a neighborhood BBQ. Unless you're trapped in the bathroom there's no reason you can't get a job with a degree.

if your work is good enough, the experience doesn't count as much anymore.. just go ahead and try.. walk in, ask for the right people, show your work, can't hurt right? you've got the "no" already, go for the "we'll be in touch for a second interview"..
don't be scared just go for it. and if you get turned down or refused you just learn from it.
- ow and then again, a good story, motivation, self confidence and a big mouth where needed also really help

get an internship to get your foot in the door

It's a Catch-22. Which is why you either have to have talent, or a lot of experience doing many random things.

I remember when I moved to Frisco years ago during the dot-com boom. I kick myself in the ass so many time because I didn't lie on my resume, while everyone around me was. People were getting crazy salaries, but I was eating ketchup soup. Lookin back on it, I should have lied about my experience -- because it all comes out in the wash anyway.

My suggestion would be to try a recruitment type firm that will get you contract work. I don't know where you are from but there are probably some in your area. Good way to build up experience. Most will find you overflow work at agencies etc.

Hah... yeah.. a place here in MI actually told me to wait until the fall until their intern goes back to school!
- Mimio0
Wish I knew about something for you dude. Good news is that the entry level jobs are coming back soon as the interns are leaving.
- d_rek0
I had several... but they didn't amount to more than a little more than over a years experience working as an 'intern'...

How is a graduate supposed to find a job when they all want 2-5 years experience working professionally?
Anyone looking for a lackey?
