I have to say, the iphone clones being made by samsung and other companies are hilarious - and that's not because I'm a brand new iphone 3g owner/user.
I looked at the Samsung Instinct site this weekend and had a great laugh. Go look:
http://www.instinctthephone.com/…
All that glitz, fanfare, teched out stuff and they think it's better than the iphone. I love the comparison page that shows how "Instinct Wins" against iphone in all categories. So funny.
The other great part is that it comes with some Nascar application built in? Are you kidding? And it's point of comparison is that iphone doesn't come with a nascar sportscup mobile application. LOL - it's called the SportsTap app and it's free.

Why on earth should anyone have to have iTunes installed to use an iPhone? Fuck that, fuck the extortionate tariffs, fuck shitty O2 network coverage, fuck-all-choice.

i have this the NOKIA N73
it offers a ton more features than the iphone, has 2 cameras, a video camera, flash player, every adobe app, real player, am/fm radio, 3D sound, internet, email, radio... oh it totally works world wide as i am on the other side of earth still using it no probs and its cheaper well slightly than the iphone... the only thing it dont do which i can care less for is the touch screen capability.
meh...

i have to say the "iphone" sorry.
my contact with orange is up this month so id been looking around at other phones and providers.
im not one for falling for the ol' Apple marketing campaigns but i have to say .... the new iphone is AMAZING!
ive seen and owned a lot of gadgets over the years but this truly blows everything out of the water. usability is stupidly intuitive - even down to setting up your phone as a remote control for itunes - if this was a PC app or from another manufacturer then this would be a hellish process to get this working lol. with the iphone you just punch in a number into itunes and hey presto.

...it is a free upgrade after all, so while I should go for what I actually need, part of me thinks I should just get the most expensive handset they offer because, hey... why not?

Well this is the thing really, I got the N95 because I was taking in by all the features... don't use any of them. GPS on a mobile? Doesn't work properly. WiFi on a phone? Who cares - can't see the point of it, never got it to connect to a router, not even at home... read PDFs and Office docs on a phone? Like that is ever going to happen... add to that the fact that it is painfully sluggish makes for a pretty bad experience...
So what I'm saying is I don't really need all this web/email/wifi crap they cram into them these days... I've got an iPod touch for email and web and it works like a charm.
I phone people, they phone me, I text and I take stupid photos and video's of my mates drunk in the pub, BUT, and this is the silly thing, I don't want to end up with some £14.99 super-basic phone that literally does nothing...

Go retro - this is the next 'phone I'm getting..
No colour screen = longer battery life
Talk: 4.50 hours (270 minutes)
Standby: 200 hours (8.2 days)
No blurry low-resolution camera
No awful ringtones
No internet browsing - no expensive data charges
Simple, perfect for calls and texts.- I used to have that one, loved it!mattiaBK

I went for the Samsung F480 (Tocco) and I would probably recommend against it if you're considering that. It's a shame, all the features are great but the actual call volume is poor to the point that I sent it back to be "repaired" so I'm waiting to see if that fixes it but I'm not holding my breath.
I've gone back to the Blackberry pearl I had before I got the Samsung and to be honest, if you're looking for something simple and functional that does voice and email very well, you can't go far wrong with the Blackberry. I think the newer models have all sorts of other goodies like GPS/Mapping etc if you're into that.
