Has anyone notice that all chewing gum now comes in fancy packaging? This is because people who are quitting smoking want a tactile experience to go with their oral fix.
See, this is why I'm valuable and you're not. Now you can go back posting photos of cats.

I've got a pack of Wrigley's 'Extra Polar Ice' sitting on my desk here, as a reference for a project I was recently working on, as I was struck by the quality and effort put into the design.
The actual product is fucking disgusting though - beyond non-animal glycerine (which is probably oil-based) and some insect secretion, there's not a single non-chemical ingredient in it - not even any fucking sugar.
Disgusting.
Still, nice packaging.

Gum is like toothpaste, deodorant, soap, and alot of products. There will be no real innovations, so companies (marketing, specifically) come up with SPARKLES, STRIPES, PACKAGE DESIGNS, LONGER FLAVOR, MORE STAIN_FIGHTING POWER!!! to pique interest.
That being said, I continue to buy every one of these products.
