Client asked me a few weeks ago if I would add a couple lines of text to Flash website I designed for free. Being the nice guy that I am, of course I said yeah, sure, I'll do it, no charge.
Them, I don't hear from her for a while, next thing I know she e-mails me out of the blue saying, "OK, that change you agreed to do for free, what they really want is a whole new section of the site. I need it by tomorrow."
Hmmm, what should I say? I'm leaving on vacation soon and really don't want to do it at all, even for money.

how about you stand up for yourself and say 'i agreed to a couple of lines, this we'll have to talk about' and then ask for such a huge sum that they'll either say no or you make out like a fat cat.

just charge what you'd normally charge, and give a timescale to what would normally take, and if you can't do it for week or two just tell them

just say no you are going on vacation and free doesnt mean taking over your personal life, free means when you can, and if they want it then its now for cash!!! as it will impend n your personal life and thats not free for anyone cept us on QBN to decide your life for you.
