I was drinking last night and received the following text:
"Dan how are you? It's a beautiful evening, I'm lonely.. Phone more o chat with me online.. Moana xo"
Now my name is not Dan and I don't know Moana. However, having a little liquid courage in me, I decided to reply.
"Moana! How's it going beautiful?"
After hitting send (this was a text) I checked out the incoming number and it was weird. 30600001
Did I just sign up for some $100 text chat line?

this is part of phishing, they send out mass txts to figure out who has this number. you just confirmed that your number exists.
expect, random junk txts, call from some sales etc.
also what they will do next is to trace your number to an account so be careful about your accounts. start with your mobile account than others.

don't drink and text. It can only lead to spam or herpes.

yeah i did google it - looks like it is the number that shows up when someone sends you a web based text. So they go to the cellphone companies site (rogers), pop in a phone number and send me a text. so hopefully it was just a wrong number. But poor Moana wouldn't have got a reply from Dan and probably had a lonely evening.
- oh being web based, i don't believe whoever sent it can see my reply.matt31
